Description:
This work begins the narrative of the special history of the German Reformed Churches. While the background of this history is laid in the great events of the Reformation in both Germany, Switzerland, and elsewhere, the particular character of the German Reformed tradition which developed in this period is explored in this book. As such it enables the reader to form an assessment of its unique character and role in the international Reformed community. This was the first book published by Dr. Good. In it he gives an account of the rise and spread of the Reformed faith in Germany, showing the groundwork laid by the work of Bucer at Strassburg, Lambert in Hesse, and John à Lasco at Bremen. The story is traced down to the Synod of Dort in 1619.
