RCUS documents - Constitution
summary by Frank Walker
Members of the RCUS have covenanted to live together according to the form of government outlined in our Constitution, which we acknowledge to be in accord with the Holy Scriptures. Our Constitution contains four main sections. The first, "Members - Congregations - Offices," establishes the basic relationships within the church. It sets forth the qualifications for members, congregations and offices, along with the rights and privileges that each enjoys. The second part focuses specifically upon the responsibilities of office-bearers as they work together in the various judicatories of the church. Section 3 outlines in detail the procedures used to maintain and promote the purity of the church, otherwise known as discipline. The last major section identifies the doctrinal standards of the RCUS (Three Forms of Unity) and describes the nature of Reformed worship (the basis for our Directory of Worship). Individuals and congregations that are considering affiliation with the RCUS will find our Constitution to be refreshingly Biblical and relevant.
