This has been an exciting time for the group of believers who have been meeting in Dickinson for nearly two years. In March, Pastor Dale and Sandra Clark moved to the parsonage in Taylor, ND, seventeen miles east of Dickinson. With a pastor on site, we changed the service time from evening to 2 pm, meeting at the Holiday Inn Express in Dickinson. We chose the name First Reformed Church for the chapel, because it is the first, hopefully, to succeed, with the prayer that it will not be the last in the area. Pastor Clark has been leading weekly membership classes for twelve adults.
The Consistory of Salem RCUS in Ashley, the overseeing church, will examine this group on May 6th in preparation for membership. Including children, the group now numbers twenty-one, with a covenant child on the way as well! The men hold a weekly prayer breakfast, and a Ladies’ Bible Study has been going for some months using Sarah Young’s book entitled Biblical Womanhood. Confirmation classes will begin after Synod meets.
We are looking into the possibilities of using the Strom Center, which may be available for longer hours on Sundays as well as during the week. Two talented computer gurus in the congregation are developing a website and coordinated brochures, flyers, and other items for advertising. The camaraderie within the body and the anticipation of God’s work here in Dickinson is inspiring. Thank you for your prayers and financial support as we seek God’s direction in building His church. We would love to have you visit us and see for yourself how God is at work here in Oil Country. Check out our website at www.frcdickinson.com.
