TRINITY RCUS, MODESTO, CA
Rev. Hank Bowen was installed by the Western Classis as pastor of Trinity Reformed Church of Modesto, CA on April 13, 2014. His call and the acceptance of the call was approved by the Western Classis. He previously served Faith RCUS in Anderson, CA, before coming to Modesto.
The 6:00 PM installation service was conducted by Rev. Paul Treick. Rev. Jim West brought the charge to the pastor from Proverbs 4:23-27, entitled, “The Minister’s Call to be His Own Cardiologist.” Rev. Jonathan Merica brought the charge to the congregation from I Thess. 5:8-15, entitled, “Exhortation to the People of God Regarding the Christian Ministry.” Following the service a time for fellowship and refreshments was enjoyed.
INTRODUCING REV. VALENTIN ALPUCHE
At the March 2014, meeting of the Western Classis, Rev. Valentin Alpuche sustained his licensure examination, in response to a call from Ebenezer RCUS of Shafter, CA. He will be serving as the Associate Pastor of the Shafter congregation with the duty of serving as a missionary to the Spanish-speaking community in the Shafter/Bakersfield area. Grace RCUS of Bakersfield has also committed itself to the partial financial support of this ministry for the next two years.
Rev. Alpuche is a native of Mexico and attended a Presbyterian church there. Later he graduated from Mid-America Reformed Seminary. He previously served as a Spanish-language church planter in the Chicago area as a pastor in the United Reformed Churches of North America. He is well-qualified for this work and has a good command of the English language as well.
Rev. Alpuche and his wife, Beatriz, have four children: Moises (8 yrs. old), Jade (5 yrs. old), Matias (2½ yrs. old), and Grace (8 mo. old). It is hoped that he will begin his work in June of this year.
His appearance on the field of labor is not only welcomed and necessary, but it is an answer to many prayers over the years that this outreach could become a reality. We warmly welcome him and his family to California and to the RCUS.
